Republicans for Jennings

Now we know that Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings has shown some Republican tendencies in the past.

  • Like endorsing Governor Pataki
  • And having his candidate Paul Clyne join the Republicans in suing David Soares during the election.
  • And not endorsing the Demoratic primary winner for the DA's race.
  • And raising money for John Sweeney.
  • And routinely bashing the public school system.

And apparently all the hard work is paying off.

"Albany City Republican Leader Joseph Sullivan said he'll circulate petitions calling for Jennings to appear on the republican line in the November election. "

And Sullivan is also saying he is running for Common Council President. So the question will be, is he Jennings pick for the job? More endorsements to follow.

UPDATE: Jennings says "no thanks". Well, if nothing else, Sullivan knows how to raise awareness of his campaign for Common Council President.

On a side note, does anyone know how many registered Democrats in Albany vote Republican in non-city races? I'm betting there are a lot of people registered as Democrats so they can help out the locals in the Dem primaries who then switch hit on State and National campaigns. Where can we get that data?
